Street Soccer USA builds life changing community based sports programs that reach the least served communities across the United States. By creating safe places to play and supplying trained, caring coaches, social service coordinators, our curriculum and basic equipment, Street Soccer USA improves the personal capacity of participants to achieve bigger goals in terms of education and employment.

Our character education and life skills programs help participants prepare for success at school, at home and in their community. Our curriculum framework is tailored with age appropriate and situation specific content for every scenario.

*Added bonus! We invite all our coaches to join in and play for free in the SSUSA I PLAY FOR Adult Soccer League in San Francisco. We strongly value the relationships built among our coaches, staff members and volunteers. We believe it is important to spend quality time both on and off the soccer pitch to foster a special community of support.

About Up2Us
Up2Us Sports is a coalition of more than 1,390 nonprofit organization ons that believe in the power of sports to fight childhood obesity, end academic failure, and reduce gang participation. Up2Us Sports’ flagship program is Up2Us Coach, a national coach / mentor program places, trains, and supports coaches to provide meaningful experiences to youth in a variety of sports programs nationally. More than 1,800 coaches have provided opportunities for more than 284,000 youth to be active, learn skills, and stay out of trouble through sports.

Duration of Service : 1 year

Duties and Responsibilities :

  •   Coach SSUSA practices 3-4 times per week between M-F
  •   Deliver and reinforce SSUSA curriculum with youth participants on a daily basis
  •   Complete SSUSA Coach Training & Accreditation process which includes but is not limited to thefollowing trainings:

o Orientation to Street Soccer USA, our mission and model
o Introduction to youth program methodology
o Social services training and commitment to child safety policy
o On-line sports for social development group management training o On the field coach workshop

  • Organize, schedule and coordinate social and educational community based activities
  •  Actively recruit volunteers, including parent participation in mentoring activitiesAdditionally, the AmeriCorps Up2Us Coach will:
  •  Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport,using lessons learned at Up2Us Sports’ best in class training events
  •  Perform data collection activities such as rosters, attendance, etc. directed by your Up2Us SportsProgram Manager
  •   Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth servedUp2Us AmeriCorps Coaches must complete the following requirements to ensure successful completion of the AmeriCorps program:
  •   Complete of the minimum required hours of service (900 hours) and training by last day of coach contract
  •   Attend all Up2Us Coach orientation sessions
  •   Complete the twice monthly America Learns reflection logs at an 80% level or higher
  •   Complete bi-weekly timesheets
  •   Attend/participate in Up2Us Sports trainings, meetings, and special initiatives
  •  Attend Coach Training Institute (Date TBD)Compensation:
    Up2Us Sports’ AmeriCorps coaches will receive an annual living allowance of $7,770 divided into bi-weekly stipends. Upon a successful competition of a year of service, coaches will receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,907.50.Qualifications:
    · Passionate about soccer and sports
    · Experience working with or volunteering with at risk/underprivileged youth
    · Adherence to the SSUSA mission, values and strategy
    · Must be at least 18 years with high school diploma or GED
    · US Citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident Alien, or have a legal permit or VISA
    · Good interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, patience and follow-through required · Minimum of 1-year experience playing or coaching soccer
    · Pass all necessary Federal and State background checks
