About the Program
Street Soccer Chicago has been long overdue and very much anticipated. Thanks to the help of our partner organization, La Casa Norte , Chicago now has a team! La Casa Norte serves youth and families confronting homelessness by providing access to stable housing and by delivering comprehensive services that act as a catalyst to transform lives and communities. La Casa Norte’s “Solid Ground” housing program, which is Chicago’s first bilingual, male-intentional supportive housing program for homeless youth, aged 16-21, is one of the transitional homes located in the underserved neighborhood of Humboldt Park and has welcomed Street Soccer with warmth and open arms.

Coaches Otto and Tony have gained a strong rapport at Solid Ground as they continue to develop the team and collaborate with staff for further improvements of various aspects in these young men’s lives. With a strong start to their very first indoor soccer season (2-0), Street Soccer Chicago is beginning to emulate a great sense of community and a can-do attitude. The program is gaining recognition as a social outlet in this underserved community and the coaches expect the program to soar and anticipate it will gain more recognition and successful seasons. Many claim, worldwide, that soccer is “The Game of Life.” The coaching staff is applying this philosophy in teaching these young men soccer, thus directly teaching them essential life-skills that can be gained when practicing a positive team attitude and outlook on their road to victory.
