Montgomery County

Coach: Carlos Fernandez

About the Program

Organized by Foundation for the Change, Carlos, former professional coach in Bolivia, has worked with latinos outside Washington, DC to use soccer to help them stay off alcohol and connect to housing. They recently established a partnership has a home team for the local indoor soccer facility and trade work hours for playing time and league fees. In their first year, Montgomery County is expected to be a top competitor.

It has been a long year of preparation for Rockville, but the wait is almost over and we are just about ready to compete in the Street Soccer USA Cup. One of Rockville's goals this summer is to show their potential in life, not only on the soccer pitch.
The Human Restoration Project has been a huge help in organizing this team. They have been involved with the program for the entire length of its existence. The Human Restoration Project is an all-volunteer non- profit organization. Their mission is to restore dignity to the homeless community of the area. Graduates of the program stay involved and contribute to the community by giving back human resources through volunteer work and various other means.
After  the Street Soccer USA Cup, the program looks to send players to Italy for the Homeless World Cup  and extend the program statewide.
But first things first. Come to Washington DC and support the Montgomery County team as they compete in the 2010 Street Soccer USA Cup.
