SSUSA National Teams' Roster Announcement for Homeless World Cup, RIO 2010

After months of goal-setting, intense preparation, and focus, 195 players striving to overcome homelessness took part in the 2010 SSUSA Cup in Washington, DC.

8 men and 8 women were selected for the Street Soccer USA Men’s national team and our women’s national team, called the Lady Salamanders. Players were chosen on three criteria: achievements off the field, ability on the field, and team spirit.

The team will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to compete against 56 countries from around the globe in the 2010 Homeless World Cup, Sept. 19th-26th.

This marks the first year that an all-women’s team has represented the United States in the Homeless World Cup.

The final squads include inspiring men and women from every region in the country, including California, New York, North Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, and Texas.

The teams will train together in New York City, Sept. 13-16 before boarding the plane to Brazil.

Challenge our Stars:

Members of the National Team and rising stars from our programs are available for challenge matches. Our players have worked hard and molded themselves into amazing advocates and goodwill ambassadors. Our team will present about their experience with homeless, what sports can do to solve it, run a street soccer clinic for youth (we can even bring our portable street soccer pitch to your location for demonstrations), and challenge the best you've got if you are a school, adult team, club, or business. Reach out to us today.
