STREET SOCCER USA PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Reports to: SSUSA-PDX Board of Directors and SSUSA Managing Director

Street Soccer USA-Portland is a chapter of National nonprofit Street Soccer USA. With the support of a national network, you will have the freedom to create and develop innovative soccer for social change programming in line with Street Soccer USA’s mission and the local Board directives.

Since its inception, Street Soccer USA-Portland has built a welcoming, collaborative and supportive culture built on a shared vision of using soccer to address poverty. Like all things in Portland, we are open to being weird and finding creative ways to address age old problems. You will be joining an experienced Board of Directors and would be leading a passionate group of staff and volunteers alike.

The ideal candidate brings an unyielding entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to bring soccer to Portland’s least served communities.

Position Summary:

The Street Soccer USA Program Development Manager – Portland (“PDM”) is responsible for managing the development, execution and growth of SSUSA’s sport for social change programming in Portland, Oregon. The PDM also oversees and ensures quality implementation of SSUSA programming at all sites throughout the region, ensuring quality execution by coaches, staff and volunteers of SSUSA’s mission and methodologies.

This role comes with the opportunity to work remotely and flexible hours, but you are expected to be on the field training coaches and interacting with our participants as needed, and often requires working non conventional hours including evenings and weekends. You will receive robust support and mentorship from the National Office, and also have the opportunity to drive change and interact with your community on a daily basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Expansion: 70%
● Manage relationships with Portland Board of Directors responsible for raising $200,000
annually.
● Support recruitment of new Board Members as needed as mandated by the SSUSA
Managing Director
● Recruit corporate and community partners to support the program
● Collaborate with SSUSA Central Staff on grant applications and other funding requests
● Manage relationships with Street Soccer USA’s existing city government, foundation and
corporate partners in Portland to maintain and grow funding from those entities (usually
15-20 applications per year)

● Track Outreach and Recruitment efforts in SSUSA’s Salesforce account in a timely manner
Programmatic Delivery and Staff/Volunteer Management: 30%
● Ensure that SSUSA-PDX is delivering quality programming that meets youth development best
practices and SSUSA curriculum
● Expand program according to SSUSA-PDX’s mission and Board strategy
● Ensure players have sufficient access to social services through recruitment and management
of social service partners
● Organize and run quarterly tournaments, including the annual Portland Social Change Cup
● Develop the Portland Social Change Cup into an official Street Soccer USA cup as part of the
cup series hosted nationwide.
● Administrative and management oversight of Portland Program Operations and Staff
● Collect program data, anecdotes, images as requested from SSUSA’s PDX Programs
● Deliver Monthly Progress Report to the Managing director and the Chief of Staff.
● Recruit, train and manage programmatic staff that work with a diverse range of players

Education, Experience & Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree, focus on fundraising, management, public administration, public
health, community development, or sports management preferred.
● Minimum 5 years experience in fundraising, non-profit experience preferred
● Strong management skills including managing complex, multifaceted programs resulting
in measurable successes and growth.
● Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups on complex community issues.
● Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, superior management skills; ability
to influence and engage direct and indirect reports.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Street Soccer
USA’s mission.
● Enthusiasm for and preferably experience playing/coaching soccer.
