The one-day event will feature a dynamic 4v4 soccer tournament followed by a live

viewing of the renowned El Clásico matchup between Real Madrid and Barcelona

EAST CUT CROSSING, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (April 2, 2024) — On April 21, 2024 at 9am PST, Street Soccer USA is set to kick off the First Annual Spring Clásico Cup & Watch Party, presented by Stranger Soccer. This back-to-back soccer tournament and free watch party will bring soccer players and spectators, families, and local partners together in the heart of downtown San Francisco to build community through the beautiful game and raise awareness of Street Soccer USA’s mission: To fight poverty and strengthen communities through soccer.

Taking place at the East Cut Crossing (250 Main St) in downtown San Francisco, the day kicks off at 9am with a dynamic 4v4 adult soccer tournament. The Cup will feature 10 teams competing in 20 minute, fast-paced matches. The inaugural Cup champions will be invited to compete in the Street Soccer USA San Francisco Cup, which will follow in May 2024. The Cup is sponsored by Stranger Soccer, who makes playing soccer as easy as going for a jog. With Stranger Soccer, you can meet people and join drop-in games at the Crossing every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

At 12pm, community members are invited to join a free community watch party on the outdoor movie screen featuring the historic El Clásico matchup of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Spectators can enjoy food and drinks from the Crossing’s Gourmet Grotto, including Red Rooster Taquería, Pita Gyros, Boba & Brew, and The Greyhound Bar.  Attendees wearing any Street Soccer gear can check in to receive free popcorn for the watch party. The Spring Clásico Cup & Watch Party offers action, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.

“We’re beyond excited to launch the first-ever Spring Clásico Cup and Watch Party,” says Street Soccer USA Bay Area Managing Director, Alex Altman. “We’re continuing to grow the number of people we serve in the local San Francisco community, and this event will strengthen community ties, connect like-minded soccer enthusiasts and bring new awareness to the Street Soccer USA mission, to fight poverty and strengthen communities through soccer.”

The Spring Clásico Cup & Watch Party will take place rain or shine. The event is brought to you by Street Soccer USA and the East Cut Community Benefit District, the hosts of San Francisco’s World Cup Village and the 49ers Super Bowl Watch Party. Generous support for the viewing is also provided by The Greyhound Bar.

All proceeds from the tournament and event sponsorships benefit Street Soccer USA, a local nonprofit using soccer as a tool to fight poverty and strengthen communities. For additional information about the First Annual Spring Clásico Cup & Watch Party, please visit the website here.
