Street Soccer USA NYC Is Thankful To Kick It’ Like Family

In New York, Street Soccer USA’s Adult Participants play for Family. On a Sunday evening in Brooklyn, they lived out this value, gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving, family style.

“We all sat and enjoyed a plate, or 2… or 3…of home-cooked food while we shared gratitude for our successes, progress, and teammate support with one another,”said Reed Fox, Program Manager.

Dinner was hosted and served by Chelsea Bastin, our Social Services Manager, who is cherished by all of our players for her continual support and mentorship.

Roberto, SSUSA’s men’s team striker, took hold of the music, which featured lots of 80’s and 90’s jam.

Others found themselves with soccer balls at their feet— juggling, passing and showing off their moves.

The jokester of the squad, Bossio remarked, “Chelsea you feel like my mom!” Another player chimed in, “And Coach Reed is like dad!”

Taking time outside the soccer space to talk and laugh with one other is an important team bonding moment and reminds us that no matter how far away from home you may be, your soccer team can be your family.
